As part of the campaign Net zero carbon Kerala through people by Haritha Keralam Mission, a one-day workshop was organized at Thiruvananthapuram on June 25, 2024 regarding the calculation of carbon sequestration. The workshop held at Govt. Rest House was inaugurated by Dr. T. N. Seema, State Coordinator, Navakeralam Karmapadhathi & Vice chairperson of Harita Kerala Mission.  Dr. T. N. Seema said that the aim of this campaign is to make everyone work together in restoring the environmental balance and to empower the local self-government bodies to do what they can practically do in this regard.

124 local self-governing bodies are trying to reach net zero carbon through this campaign. The workshop included expert presentations on the simplest and most appropriate methodology for data collection for carbon sequestration estimation.

Scientists and experts from WRI, KFRI, CWRDM, JNTBGRI, SIGN and various universities participated the workshop.
