Cooperation and ports Minister V.N. Vasavan said that we can save biodiversity by creating a lot of greenery by means of installing green islets(Pachathuruth). The minister inaugurated the Kottayam district level environment day celebrations by planting saplings for Pachathuruth in connection with the 1000 more green islets expansion programme of Haritha Keralam mission. The programme was at Kumarakam North Govt. LP school premises. On the occasion, Kottayam District Panchayat President K.V. Bindu presided. Etumanur block panchayat member Kavita Lalu recited the Environment Day Pledge. Navkeralam karma padhathi District Coordinator S. Isaac made the presentation. Kumarakam Gram Panchayat President Dhanya Sabu, Vice President V.K. Joshi, Grama Panchayat member Maya Suresh, Kumarakam North LP. School Headmistress K. Sindhu also spoke.
