The two-day environmental conference organized by the Haritha Keralam Mission in Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of World Water Day has concluded. The environmental conference, which included best practices in water security, environmental restoration, waste management and net zero carbon Kerala, became an excellent public education program. The environmental conference was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on March 24, 2025.
Among the best model activities being carried out in the state under the leadership of the Haritha Keralam Mission, 15 presentations related to water conservation, 25 related to waste management, 10 related to net zero carbon Kerala, and 13 presentations as model activities of green spaces were presented at two parallel venues. These presentations were led by a panel of experts in the field of environment. In the concluding session of the Environmental Conference, certificates were distributed to the institutions participating in the Net Zero Carbon Kerala activities by Dr. T.N. Seema, State Coordinator, Nava Keralam Karma Padhathi.
Dr. T.N. Seema, who summed up the concluding session, said that the Environmental Conference had become a powerful mass education.
Dr. Jiju P. Alex, Member, State Planning Board, presided over the function. Abraham Koshy, Assistant Coordinator, Haritha Keralam Mission, welcomed the participants and T.P. Sudhakaran, Assistant Coordinator, Nava Kerala Action Plan, proposed the vote of thanks. More than one thousand people from 14 districts of the state participated in the two-day environmental conference.
