Neelakurinji Biodiversity Study Fest and Quiz Contest

Haritha Keralam Mission is organizing a biodiversity study festival and quiz competition for school students. The program is part of the community-level programs of the Neelakurinji Biodiversity Knowledge Centre established by Haritha Keralam Mission in Adimali, Idukki district under the UNDP scheme. The study festival and quiz competition have been organized in connection with World Biodiversity Day with the aim of creating awareness among children about biodiversity and the importance of its conservation. The study festival and quiz competition are being organized for three days from May 16 in Adimali and Munnar with the participation of the winners of the quiz competition organized at the block level on April 25 and at the district level on April 29. Students who are in standards 7, 8, and 9 can participate in the competition. Details regarding participation in the competition can be had from the Haritha Keralam Mission district offices and resource persons. Registration can be done through the online. The quiz competition will be based on the topics of environment and biodiversity. The quiz competition will be interactive. Certificates will be given to all participating children. In addition, a separate certificate will be given to the winners.


The quiz programme to be held at the block-district level will be in collaboration with the Vidyakiranam Mission of state education department. The green islets (Pachathuruth) located near the Neelakurinji Biodiversity Knowledge Centre in Adimali and its biodiversity will be the main component of the camp. The three-day learning festival combines entertainment and knowledge with learning workshops,  field activities, songs, games, and skill development. Children will be provided with free accommodation and food for participating in the quiz competition and the learning festival camp at Adimali and Munnar. The Biodiversity Learning Festival Camp is organized every year during the summer vacations with the focus on biodiversity and the importance of its conservation, said Dr. T.N. Seema, State Coordinator of the Navakeralam Karma Padhathi and Vice Chairperson of the Haritha Keralam Mission. This is the second learning festival camp being organized now.
