Pachathuruth (green islet) project has been started at IREL, a central public sector organization in Chavara of Kollam District. The project is implemented as part of the company's social responsibility scheme. Implementation of Pachathuruth is being done in collaboration with Chavara Panchayath and Haritha Keralam Mission. Dr. Sujith Vijayan Pillai MLA inaugurated the project aimed at nature conservation and ecosystem sustainability. The project involves planting coconut and other fruit tree saplings on 10 acres of land in Karithura and Kovilthottam areas with the help of local people. Fruit trees will also be planted on the land provided for the rehabilitation of local residents after IRE mining.
