V. Shashi MLA said that we should envisage actions to enrich and maintain ground water particularly in the context of daily scarcity of fresh water being faced all over the world. He was speaking at the state level inauguration of 'Thenginu Thadam Manninu Jalam' (Basin for coconut tree and water to soil) campaign implemented by Haritha Kerala Mission under the leadership of local self-governing bodies with the aim of crop protection and groundwater protection. He added that the Malinya muktham Navakeralam public campaign, which will start from next month (2024 October), will be implemented to protect clean water sources and address issues like water pollution. Gram Panchayat President R. Rajitha presided. MNREGS Mission Director A. Nizamuddin IAS released the campaign logo . Haritha Kerala Mission Agriculture Sub-Mission Assistant Coordinator S.U. Sanjeev delivered the keynote address. District panchayat member R. Subhash, Chirayinkeesh Block Panchayat President Jayashree, Panchayat Standing Committee Chairperson  and others spoke. Gram Panchayat Vice President R. Sreekantan Nair greeted the ceremony and  Navakeralam Karmapadhati Thiruvananthapuram District Coordinator C. Ashok delivered vote of thanks. People's representatives , Local residents, officials from Agriculture Department, Local Self-Government Department, Haritha Keralam Mission etc., Kudumbashree workers, Asha workers, Harita Karmasena, voluntary organization workers and many others participated. Farmers and agricultural workers of the area were honored in the function.
