The first green islet/Pachathuruth in State attains five years

Five years have passed since the first Pachathuruth of the Pachathuruth project implemented by the Haritha Kerala Mission in the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan started the Pachathuruth project on World Environment Day on June 5, 2019 by planting saplings in the five cents of the compound of Vengode Family Health Center in Pothenkode Grama Panchayat of Thiruvananthapuram district. All the plants, including the first plant planted, turned green and blossomed and the place looked like a small forest. Birds nest in the sheltered branches of bamboo and other trees.

A bio-diverse ecosystem is formed here with the presence of butterflies and small birds along with the presence of different species of morning crickets. Most of these plants are medicinal plants. After five years till date, Haritha Keralam Mission has planted 2950 green saplings in 850 acres of land across the state.
