Let me flow now is a watercourse revitalization campaign organized by the Haritha Keralam Mission with the support of local self-government institutions in Kerala. This is a programme in which streams or watercourses are selected in all local self-government institutions and cleaned by the masses. The cleaning and deepening of watercourses and streams is made possible with the participation of local self-government institutions, various departments and public groups. Technical committees at the district, block, gram panchayat and municipal levels are responsible for the technical supervision of watercourse restoration activities. The committees organized locally will take over the ongoing maintenance of the cleaned watercourses.
On the second anniversary of the Haritha Keralam Mission, on December 8, 2018, a river revitalization program was organized under the name ‘All to the Water Bodies’ and 137 water bodies covering a distance of 210 km were cleaned from various local self-government bodies. These activities were carried out in a manner of comprehensive people's programme. Following this, in the Haritha Keralam Mission meeting held on 01.08.2019 under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, it was decided that at least one water body in all local self-government bodies should be taken up and revived in a popular manner. The main reason for the pollution of our rivers is the pollution of their tributaries and the water bodies that flow into them. Therefore, to make the rivers free from waste, the tributaries need to be cleaned. In such a way, an important stream or watercourse should be selected in all local self-government institutions and cleaned in a popular manner. As part of the third anniversary of the Haritha Keralam Mission, a decision was made to undertake a popular campaign for cleaning watercourses under the name 'Let Me Flow Now - People's Restoration of watercourse'.
The third phase of the 'Let Me Flow Now' campaign is progressing in the state. With the completion of two phases, 87164 km of watercourses have been cleaned and smooth flow has been ensured. 412 km of rivers have been cleaned. 29107 ponds have been revived. 24479 ponds have been constructed. 787 permanent check dams and 73019 temporary check dams have been constructed.
